Unlabelled Ghanaian palm oil containing illegal dye Sudan IV sold at Kemtoy Miyan Cash & Carry

Kemtoy Miyan Cash & Carry, 203 Rotherhithe New Road, London SE16 2BA has been selling unlabelled Ghanaian palm oil, which contains the illegal colour dye known as Sudan IV. Sudan dye is genotoxic and carcinogenic. This means the product should not be consumed.

Sudan dyes are red dyes that are used for colouring solvents, oils, waxes, petrol, and shoe and floor polishes.

The FSA believes that distribution covers the London area only.  However, if you have seen the product sold elsewhere, please report to Trading Standards on 03454 040506.

The palm oil is packaged in clear plastic containers with a red screw top and has no label.
