Recall: PowaKaddy Sport and Digital Lithium Battery

The following notice has been issued by the supplier:

POWAKADDY SPORT AND DIGITAL LITHIUM BATTERY – RECALL NOTICE

BatteriesDoes your battery look like this?

PowaKaddy International Ltd (Co. No. 07747629) is voluntarily recalling a batch of lithium batteries manufactured in the middle of 2012 which were fitted to our discontinued 2012 Sports and Digital models.

We know of a small number that have caught fire when being charged.  We are not aware of any instances of injury, but safety is our first priority.

Only batteries with serial numbers starting with BKD, BKE or BKS are affected.

We have set up a website where customers can check whether their battery is affected.  If it is one we sold, we will replace it free of charge and will make arrangements through that website to do so promptly.

There are also some batteries in the marketplace sold by an earlier company (Co. No. 01978915) that no longer exists.  Because we didn’t sell these batteries, we are not required in law to replace these.  However, because they carry our brand name we are offering, without prejudice, to replace these directly with affected consumers at half the recommended retail price.

So, if you have a BKD, BKE or BKS do not charge it or use it until you have gone to www.pkrecall.com or Freephone0800 088 7981 to check.
