RECALL: Clarks (Wantage) Ltd Wessex Mill white spelt bread flour & Wessex Mill wholemeal spelt bread flour

Clarks (Wantage) Ltd is recalling its Wessex Mill White Spelt Bread Flour and Wessex Mill Wholemeal Spelt Bread Flour due to incorrect allergen labelling. The products are labelled as ‘low gluten’ but contain high levels of gluten. There is no set level for ‘low gluten’. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to wheat/spelt or an intolerance to gluten.

No other Wessex Mill brand products are known to be affected.

RISK:

Allergen:  spelt/wheat (gluten)

The products contain gluten through the presence of spelt (wheat) making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to spelt /wheat or  an intolerance to gluten.

ADVICE TO CONSUMERS:

If you have bought one of the above products and have an allergy to spelt/wheat or intolerance to gluten, do not eat it. Instead, return the product to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
