On 15th July 2015, we held our first ‘Join the Fight’ conference at Trinity Park attended by over 100 delegates from across the county.

We put together a varied programme to raise awareness of the problems of scam mail, scam phone calls and rogue doorstep traders. We also looked at some of the solutions, such as No Cold Calling Zones and our innovative Consumer Champion Network.

We gave delegates the opportunity to help us explore how we can work together with our partners to win the fight against rogue traders. We were very lucky to have some really engaging speakers at the event, from both outside our organisation and from the talented and passionate officers within our Service.

We also held two workshops which facilitated some interesting and stimulating discussions around rogue trader activity and how we can work better together. Many delegates made pledges throughout the event as they were inspired about what they could do to help in the fight against scammers and rogues.

Throughout the day, there was plenty opportunity for delegates to network with colleagues from other organisations and the various exhibitors.

For an overview of the conference and some of the key messages, watch the following film montage:

We received some really positive feedback about the conference. We were delighted to bring together professionals and individuals committed to joining us in the fight against the rogues who target the most vulnerable consumers in Suffolk.

If, having seen this, you too are inspired to become a Consumer Champion, it would be fantastic to have you on board. With your help and support we will continue to fight for our vision of a ‘rogue free Suffolk’.
