Recall: Spar (UK) Tikka Chicken Chunks

The following notice has been issued by the Food Standards Agency:

Spar (UK) Ltd is recalling its Tikka Chicken Chunks with a ‘use by’ date of 24 February 2016 because Listeria monocytogenes has been found in the product

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause foodborne illness, particularly among key vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, unborn and newborn babies, those over 60 years old, and anyone with reduced immunity.

Although the product has expired, the information on the back of the packaging says it is suitable for home freezing and some consumers may have frozen it.

‘Use by’ date: 24 February 2016

If you have bought the above product, do not consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

No other Spar (UK) Ltd products are known to be affected.
