Cold callers asking personal questions relating to medical history

We have received information that a consumer received a cold call from a person purporting to be from the Eye Health Centre.

This consumer was contacted by a man claiming to be a nutritionist from Eye Health Centre. He asked a number of questions relating to medication, mobility, family members including where they live, and went on to ask how she collected her pension. He then said he would call her back monthly to check her medications.

The callers dialling code was 01797 which is Rye in East Sussex, but on further investigation the number was not that of Rye Health Centre.

Anyone receiving similar calls should report the matter to the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06.
