We have a number of initiatives that require the help of those living and working in Suffolk. We would welcome volunteers for any of the following.
Consumer Champion Network
The aim of the network is to educate and empower you about your consumer rights, and to build resilience to rogue traders and scams.
Consumer Champions receive a weekly alert advising them of new scams, product recalls as well as Trading Standards and Community Safety news.
The volunteer ‘Consumer Champions’ act as a bridge between Trading Standards and the local community, and help us to ensure that our Service meets your particular concerns. Read more, and apply here.
Suffolk County Council’s Trading Standards department operates a ‘Lorry watch’ scheme to help those parishes that feel local HGV Weight restriction Traffic Orders are being abused and are being overlooked by enforcement agencies.
Weight Restriction Orders are intended to protect old or weak bridges and structures, but they also can prohibit heavy vehicles from areas unsuitable for their size, for environmental reasons or if they pose a danger (e.g. narrow village roads).
Volunteers are needed to support our Lorry Watch Scheme. Read more and apply here.
